Questions
Questions we are asked
Short answers to the questions our patients ask most. If yours is not here, message us.
How much is an eye consultation?
An eye consultation costs 2,000 FCFA at Jackson Eye Clinic.
Where is the clinic?
In Kotto-Bonamoussadi, Douala V, between Pharmacie Kotto and Santa Lucia, opposite the Visite Technique. The shopfront is green, with a "Consultation des yeux" sign on the roadside.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 17:00, and Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00. The clinic is closed on Sunday.
Do I need an appointment?
No, you can walk in. You can also book by WhatsApp, by phone or on Facebook: appointments are offered Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes.
What am I suffering from?
Only an examination can tell. During the consultation your vision is measured and your eyes are examined, then we explain plainly what we found and what can be done.
How much do glasses cost?
The full price of your glasses depends on the frame you choose and the lenses your prescription needs. It is given to you during the consultation, before any order. Frames alone, without lenses, range from 5,000 to 50,000 FCFA.
How long do glasses take?
In most cases, the same day. Lenses are prepared on site at the clinic.
Is there an eye drop that replaces glasses?
We do not offer eye drops as a replacement for glasses. Glasses correct the way the eye focuses, which a drop does not do in a lasting way. If wearing glasses bothers you, let us talk about it during your consultation.
Can a child under 5 wear glasses?
Yes. A child can wear glasses at any age if an examination shows they need them. We examine children's eyes at the clinic.
What is the treatment for cataract?
Cataract is treated by an operation, carried out by an eye surgeon. Neither glasses nor eye drops remove it. At the clinic we provide cataract follow-up and refer you to a partner centre when an operation becomes necessary.
Is there an eye drop that changes the colour of my eyes?
No. We do not offer or recommend any eye drop to change eye colour. Only put products in your eyes that have been prescribed for you.
Do you have a clinic in Tiko?
Yes. The Tiko Annex is in the God is Good building at Tiko Roundabout. It is open Monday to Saturday, from 7:30 to 16:00.
How can I pay?
Cash, MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money and bank transfer. We also accept ACTIVA insurance.
